This blog is long overdue, so thank you for stopping by. I'm here to document a path I've set for myself to become a badass gentleman. It all started 9 months ago. My girlfriend basically said I was fat. So I evaluated where I was, and decided to undertake this journey. It's been fantastic and I've enjoyed every step of the way. Hope that you'll enjoy the ride as much as I am, and perhaps discover your own journey along the way.
It's important to note that I'm striving to improve both dimensions. There are plenty of badasses that are also assholes, and there are gentlemen that you'd never be afraid of. It's a rare combination to have both, and that's the goal here.
What do each of these terms mean? Let's start off with badass. There have been many historical badasses. Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great, Ramses II, and one of my personal favorites, Miyamoto Mushashi, just to name a few. Badassery is characterized by one key trait: never, ever giving up. It is a force whose momentum can only be slowed by death. No matter the odds, no matter the challenge, a badass never wavers in his singular belief that he will prevail.
The term 'gentleman' is more difficult to nail down. Merriam-Webster's first definition is "a man of noble or gentle birth." Wikipedia cites Latin origins, one being gentilis which means belonging to a race, and one being generosus, which denotes a number of attributes including good birth, good education, generosity, and honor. A gentleman is someone we all can recognize when we see him. Whether it be his social adeptness, his breadth of worldly knowledge, his impeccable sense of humor, or his gracious manner, it's always nice to spend time with a gentleman.
Now that we've outlined what it means to be a Badass Gentleman, the next post will be about translating that into a plan of action.
You've piqued my curiosity and I'm raring for the continuation...
